About the band

'The Irony' are a band from the Midlands who's music can be described as rock…but not, pop…but not, indie…but not.  Their style is emotive and edgy, acoustic and electric and raw yet, at the same time, polished. Confused?

Lead singer, Dave Hughes, describes the band's style as the ramblings of four good friends expressing trapped emotions and innovation through music but the only real way to understand this band is to listen to the music for yourself; because, whatever it is, it really does work.

'The Irony' was born from the ashes of it's former guise, 'In Ironic Irony' which featured founder members, Dave Hughes (guitar & vox) and Baz White (bass).  After achieving some local success with the original band, Dave and Baz decided to take their passion for song-writing and performance to the next level and 'The Irony' was born.  Enter stage left Loz Hancock (drums) and Hanna Knight (keys & vox) and you have a band that has been causing a stir and turning a lot of heads in the music industry.

Their first album 'Ten Stories High' received great feedback from both fans and professionals alike and they are due to release a much-anticipated follow-up EP on 28th October 2011; "Wooden Heart".  The future looks bright for the band with a new album in the pipeline, gigs up and down the country and, of course, lots more song-writing.  It's fair to say that now is certainly the time to jump on board with 'The Irony' and enjoy the great journey this talented band is embarking on.
